Hazardous Weather Outlook for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the mountains and foothills of the Western Carolinas and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Monday, July 25, 2022.  Numerous thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with scattered showers and storms potentially lingering into the evening. Cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty winds, and heavy downpours will be possible with any thunderstorms. A few of the storms may produce damaging microburst winds. Storms will tend to be slow-moving, and localized flash flooding is also possible, especially if multiple storms develop over the same area.  Slow-moving thunderstorms Tuesday again could produce torrential downpours and localized flash flooding. The threat will tend to be higher in areas that also see heavy rainfall today or tonight.
