Hazardous Weather Outlook for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Western North Carolina and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Monday, October 17, 2022.  A freeze warning is in effect from midnight tonight to noon on Tuesday and a freeze watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.  For the freeze warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as the upper 20s to lower 30s are expected. For the freeze watch, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 to 30 are possible.  Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
