Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service in Greenville and Spartanburg, South Carolina has issued a hazardous weather outlook for northeast Georgia, including Rabun County.  An increased fire danger exists from 11am Thursday, March 4, through this evening.  Temperatures rising into the upper 60s and lower 70s across northeast Georgia this afternoon will combine with very dry air to produce low relative humidity values in the teens to lower 20s percent range. In addition, brush and other surface fuels will continue to dry out today, and the combination of these factors will lead to heightened fire danger across the region.  Refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
