Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Piedmont North Carolina, Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Friday, April 14, 2023.  A low-pressure system will lift northward across the forecast area today allowing shower and thunderstorm chances to continue. Isolated thunderstorms will persist through the morning hours. As daytime heating gets underway this afternoon, isolated strong to severe storms may develop. The main potential impacts with today’s storms are cloud-to-ground lightning, locally heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts, and large hail.  Strong to severe storms are possible Sunday afternoon and evening as a cold front tracks across the forecast area.
