Habersham County accepts delivery of New Ambulance

Last week, Habersham County took delivery of a new Frazer Bilt ambulance that will be placed in service soon. The emergency vehicle, which was delivered Wednesday, Feb. 7, features a silver body with red and black reflective graphic elements, a design that began with delivery of the county’s first Frazer Bilt ambulance in September 2020. The new unit meets all the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services safety standards and includes LED lighting. The truck has a separate generator to allow the unit to maintain its patient area temperature and keep medications at the proper temperature without the engine idling for long periods of time. The new unit, on a Ford F-450 chassis, is a product of Frazer Ltd. In Houston, Texas. Habersham County is averaging 60,000 to 75,000 miles per year on each of its six front-line ambulances, with most of that coming from transports to hospitals outside the county, including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton, and others. The new front-line ambulance will be stocked, inspected, and placed into service at Station 9 in the next few weeks, allowing another higher-mileage unit to move to reserve status. The new unit was purchased through the county’s 1-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
