Habersham Co. Rescuers retrieve Injured Person from Tree

Units from Habersham County Emergency Services and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded at 1:03pm Monday to a person stuck in a tree going in and out of consciousness, reports Public Information Officer Rob Moore.  The location was vacant property on Montego Bay in Clarkesville, located a short distance north of Woodville Elementary School.  Habersham County Ladder 9, Engine 17, Med 9, Captain 1, Battalion 1, 811, and 802 responded.  When units arrived four minutes after dispatch, they found one person stuck about 20 feet up in a tree who was moving but was not responding to verbal commands.  When the ladder truck arrived about three minutes after the initial units, crews started working to access the individual.  Crews made contact with the victim about five minutes later and started assessing the extent of the injuries.  Due to the extent of the injuries, AirLife medical helicopter was requested to respond to the scene to transport because of extended extrication time.  While freeing the victim from the tree, crews began patient care and also requested a bucket truck from Habersham EMC to respond to assist in extrication.  Before the utility truck could arrive, the individual was freed from the tree at 1:32pm and prepared for transport.  Habersham County Emergency Services Med 9 transported the individual to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with assistance from the crew of AirLife 14, arriving at the hospital at 2:06pm.  Units cleared the scene at 2:16pm.
