Habersham Co. Commissioner Palmer and County Clerk Carnes attend 2023 Legislative Breakfast in Atlanta

Habersham County Commissioner Bruce Palmer and County Clerk Brandalin Carnes attended Thursday’s 2023 Legislative Breakfast hosted by Association County Commissioners of Georgia.  The event, sponsored by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority, was held at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot in Atlanta.  Palmer and Carnes were joined by District 10 State Rep. Victor Anderson as those in attendance received updates and briefings from the ACCG Governmental Affairs team regarding issues moving through the state legislature and the impact they would have on counties.  Speakers for the event included Georgia Speaker of the House Jon Burns, who discussed increases in state Local Maintenance Improvement Grant (LMIG) funding, passage of HB404 “Safe at Home Act”, and HB520 regarding Mental Health Reform; and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who discussed emerging election issues.  State Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry discussed state transportation issues and State Revenue Commissioner Frank O’Connell provided an update on the state’s finances.
