Golf Course Burglary Suspect arrested

A suspect has been arrested in connection to burglaries at local golf courses.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, July 1, 2022, a search warrant was conducted on a residence in Jackson County, Georgia with the assistance of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department, and Toccoa Police Department.  After an extensive investigation by investigators of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, 36-year-old Benjamin Reed Heaslip of Jackson County was identified as the primary suspect in connection to the burglaries at the Rabun County Golf Club, Kingwood Country Club, and Wildcat Grill in Rabun County.  Heaslip was arrested and transported back to the Rabun County Detention Center where he was booked and processed.  Since the search warrant was conducted by Rabun County Investigations, at least nine law enforcement agencies outside of Rabun County identified Heaslip as their primary suspect related to burglaries within their jurisdictions.
