GHSA pushes High School Football Season to start in September

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to postpone the high school football season until September 4th.  This decision means that games scheduled for August 21st will now be two weeks later on September 4th. The complete schedule will still be played, only two weeks later. The regular season will end on November 20th.  The move back will now bring the possibility of the State Finals being held the week of Christmas.  Softball, volleyball, cross country, and cheerleading will remain on the current fall schedule.  The GHSA is still allowing full practices in football and the other fall sports to begin on August 1st.
