Georgia Power working to restore Service in Rabun Co.

Georgia Power crews are working tirelessly to restore service in Rabun County after a severe storm ripped through the area Monday morning, April 13, 2020.  Georgia Power Spokesperson Allison Gregoire gives details. “So, our teams are in the field now quickly and safely restoring power; however, in Rabun County as of 9:45am we have about 42 outages affecting 977 customers in the county.”  Stay away from downed power lines, continues Gregoire.  “So during this time, we’re just asking customers to stay inside, avoid going out in your yard, and avoid touching any downed wires, lines, and debris just because those lines can still electrocute.  So, we’re asking everyone to just stay inside to be safe. Crews are working as quickly and safely as they possibly can. We’re also asking during this time of COVID-19 that you social distance from our crews just for your safety and for our crews’ safety.  Please stay more than six feet away from them. If you want to show your thanks just give them a thumbs up or say ‘thank you’. But just stay inside, give them some space, and they will get you back on as quickly and safely as possible.”  Remember, never touch any downed wire or low hanging wire, including Cable TV wires that touch a power line. Never pull tree limbs off power lines yourself or enter areas with debris or downed trees as downed power lines may be buried in the wreckage.  Call Georgia Power at 1-888-891-0938 or 911 to report any downed power lines.
