Georgia Power to host Lake Tugalo Clean-Up Event

Georgia Power announces it will be hosting a Lake Tugalo clean-up event on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 9am at the South Carolina Tugalo Boat Ramp off Highway 76.  This is part of an effort sponsored by the Georgia Power Lake Resource Group and the North Georgia Hydro Group.  Citizens who would like to participate in the clean-up event will need to bring their own boat or kayak, personal safety equipment, drinking water, and sunscreen.  Lake Tugalo is an integral part of Georgia Power’s hydroelectric systems in Northeast Georgia. The lake, which is owned by Georgia Power, has 18 miles of shoreline, covering 597 acres. While keeping the lake clean provides an enjoyable experience for citizens and a safe habitat for wild animals, it also allows Georgia Power to continue to effectively provide customers with electricity.  For over two decades, Georgia Power has hosted this annual event to maintain the environment around the lakeshore and help make the lake safer for recreational use. Last year, with the help of volunteers and partners, between 600-700 pounds of trash was removed from the lake.
