Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Unemployment Rate unchanged

The Georgia Labor Commission reports that the unemployment rate for the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission was unchanged in December.  The unemployment rate remained at 2.4 percent over the month, the rate was 2.3 percent one year ago.  The labor force was down 35 over the month and down 130,580 over the year to 237,172.  The number of employed was down 5 over the month and down 127,797 over the year to 231,554.  Initial claims were up 172 (20%) over the month and up 399 (62%) over the year to 1,042.  The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission consists of Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.
