Georgia Mountains Regional Commission sees Dip in November Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate dropped in the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission in November, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.  The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.4% over the month, the rate was 2.2% one year ago.  The labor force was down 1,908 over the month and down 130,006 over the year to 237,213.  The number of employed was down 1,114 over the month and down 127,569 over the year to 231,552.  Initial claims were up 259 (42%) over the month and up 330 (61%) over the year to 870.  There were 3,661 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.  The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission consists of Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.  The Georgia Department of Labor reports that all regional commissions in the state recorded a decrease in unemployment rates in October.
