GDOT completes Cedar Ridge Road Bridge Replacement Early

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announces the opening of the Cedar Ridge Road bridge over I-85 in Franklin County. The bridge officially closed for construction February 18, 2019, and lanes are now open to traffic as of Thursday, August 15, 2019.  This bridge replacement is part of the $30 million GDOT Design-Build Bridge Replacement Program. The program is funded by the Transportation Funding Act (TFA) of 2015 and utilizes bundles to maximize efficiency and speed in the replacement of locally-owned infrastructure.  The Cedar Ridge Road Bridge is one of the I-85 Corridor Bridge Replacement Projects bridges being replaced. Contractors had 180 calendar days from the closure date to demolish the old bridge, construct the new bridge, and reopen the street to traffic. The replacement was originally slated for completion on August 17, 2019, with crews finishing two days early.  Four out of the five I-85 Corridor Bridge Replacement Projects bridges have been completed and are open to traffic. The remaining bridge in the bundle is anticipated to open in March 2020.
