Four Thefts under Investigation

Four recent thefts in the county are under investigation.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports the first theft occurred at a residence on Pool Creek Road in Clayton on Nov. 25.  The complainant said that he wrote a check to The Swiss Colony and that someone changed the amount of the check and cashed two checks out of his account totaling $883.  Investigators are currently looking into this forgery in the first degree. The second theft happened at an apartment on Jaguar Lane in Clayton on Dec. 2. The complainant told the investigator that all of his stuff located at the apartment had been stolen.  Those items were estimated to be worth $1,371. The third theft was reported to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 5. A $1,400 Stihl chainsaw was stolen from the complainant’s shop on Ice Plant Road in Clayton sometime between Dec. 2, and Dec. 5. The fourth theft occurred at a residence on Wolffork Church Road in Rabun Gap sometime between June 5, and December 5.  The caretaker of the property reported to the investigator that the stove and refrigerator were stolen.
