Four TFS Students selected as Governor’s Honors Semifinalists

Good news arrived Jan. 31 for a group of accomplished Tallulah Falls School (TFS) students on being named semifinalists for the prestigious Governor’s Honors Program, reports E. Lane Gresham, Director of Communications and Media at TFS.  Junior Colton Augustine of Tallulah Falls is a semifinalist in the area of Social Studies; sophomore Walker Bailey of Lula is a semifinalist in the area of Mathematics; junior Madison Perdue of Clayton is a semifinalist in the area of Communicative Arts and Evan Prince of Rabun Gap is a semifinalist in the area of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.  “GHP is such a prestigious program that even being nominated at the school level is a tremendous accomplishment,” said school counselor Michelle Barron, who coordinates the program for TFS. “I congratulate all of the outstanding students who were selected as semifinalists and know they will represent TFS well at the statewide interviews.”  Approximately 3,000 students were nominated to the state-level competition, with more than 1,200 selected as semifinalists for state interviews/auditions.  According to the website, GHP is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.  Photos courtesy of TFS.
