Flu season descends, health department offering Flu shots

Flu season is officially upon us and it’s better late than never to make sure you and your family stay protected from a nasty virus most commonly known as, the “Flu.”

Fortunately for Rabunites, the Rabun County Health Department is continuing their offering of Flu shots for the public according to Dave Palmer Public Information Officer for District 2 Public Health.

“We do have flu shots available for people at the health department in Rabun County. We have the seasonal flu shot and the high dose for those who are 65 years and older. The CDC said last year that 80,000 people died last year from the flu. So we are really encouraging everyone to get their vaccination,” he said.

Palmer said Flu season in Georgia typically runs from October to May.

“If you get the Flu shot now, your immunity will be built up by the time the Flu season really peaks,” he said.
