Five Recent Crashes in Rabun Co.

Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office recently responded to five motor vehicle crashes in the county.  The first happened on Highway 76 West at 12:10pm on Dec. 6. The driver of a 1986 Toyota Halfton lost control while negotiating a curve, spun out, and slid backward down an embankment.  No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident. The second crash occurred on Georgia 15 South at 5:10pm on Dec. 6. The driver of a 2013 Infiniti G37 said that a deer crossed the median, struck the vehicle in the side, and rolled over the vehicle along the driver’s side.  No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident. The third wreck happened on Georgia 15 at 9:27pm on Dec. 6. The driver of a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder told the deputy that she struck a deer that jumped out in front of her vehicle. No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident.  The fourth accident occurred on Highway 76 West at 9:47am on Dec. 7. The driver of a 1998 Ford F150 was not paying attention and ran off the road, striking three mailboxes and a sign as it spun around and slid onto an embankment. No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident. The fifth crash happened on Sawmill Lane at 11:34am on Dec. 7.  The driver of a 1999 Chevy Silverado told the deputy that she was reversing in the driveway, she hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, and the vehicle’s tailgate struck a pedestrian and a John Deere tractor that were behind the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the single-vehicle accident.
