Fire on Lake Yonah consumes Tallulah Falls home

According to fire safety officials, a fire destroyed a Lake Yonah home early Monday morning.

The home, situated in Tallulah Falls, was a total loss after the fire burned the 1,000 sq. ft. structure to the ground.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire but according to Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black, multiple units arrived on scene Monday morning to prevent further structures from catching fire.

The first unit from Tallulah Falls Fire Department arrived on scene at 600 Bay Shadow Road at 9:32 a.m. when additional units were requested from Habersham County EMS and Tallulah Falls Police Department.

The Stephens County/Habersham County Fire Boat from the Shiloh Fire Department was additionally requested as authorities thought fire personnel would not be able to traverse the steep driveway.

However, Engine 7 from the Tallulah Falls Fire Department was able to successfully extinguish the fire.

No individuals were reported as injured.
