Fire Danger on Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Greenville and Spartanburg, South Carolina has issued a special weather statement for Wednesday, January 20, 2021, for Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, and Elbert counties.  An increased fire danger alert from noon Wednesday through 7pm Wednesday evening has been issued.  The relative humidity is expected to fall to 25% or less for four or more hours this afternoon into the early evening.  Winds will be west-northwest at 7-14mph, with gusts up to 23mph possible. With dry fuels, increased fire danger conditions can be expected.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
