FAITH’s Annual Sweetheart Ball was a Big Success

This year the Sweetheart Ball for F.A.I.T.H., Fight Abuse In The Home, on February 11, 2023, at the Rabun County Civic Center was a big success, says FAITH spokesperson Mark Smith, Director of Power House Child Advocacy Center & Sexual Assault Center.  “The key to success this year of F.A.I.T.H. ‘s Sweetheart Ball was the sponsors.  We had so many.  You can tell they’re coming back after the pandemic.  They wanted to be involved and wanted to do something for the community again.  So, we had an overwhelming number of sponsors, which made it go really, really well.  This was our 23rd year and in terms of money that we raised, all these funds that we raised are used to provide services for domestic violence, sexual assault, and children who have been physically or sexually abused, and I think this was one of the better years that we have had.  The evening went well.  It was a great dinner, The Shed did a good job.  We had fun dancing and a nice band.  The live and silent auctions were good and we also were able to provide funding for a special need that we have particularly here at the shelter in Clayton and that is a kennel.  We have residents who need a place to stay that will remain in an abusive situation because they can’t take their pets with them and they don’t want to do that, so we are in the process of funding a special cause for having a kennel built here, which I think is going to work out really, really well.  The evening was fantastic.  Glad to have it back again after having been off due to COVID and it’s nice to be doing our normal things again.  This helps raise funds in order to provide the services that we provide for victims of abuse and all those services are free.”  The entertainment was provided by the “Party at the Limit Band” and the food was catered by The Shed.  To learn more about F.A.I.T.H. and the work they do in the community, visit https://faith-inc.org/.
