Expect Heavy Traffic on Georgia Roads over Holiday Weekend

Pack plenty of patience if you’re traveling this Independence Day weekend as the roads are anticipated to be busy.  Garrett Townsend, Public Affairs Director with AAA Georgia, says you can expect heavy traffic on roads throughout the state this weekend.  “AAA is predicting that more Americans will travel for this Independence Day than ever before. As far as Georgia is concerned, really about 1.3 million drivers are going to be on the road, which is about 5% more than last year.”  Distracted driving is a major concern, continues Townsend. “A lot of people on the road, we always encourage drivers to focus on the task of driving. Distracted driving is something that has caused lots of crashes over the years, so focus on driving.  Leave in time and allow yourself enough time to get to your destination and then back home.” Pay attention while driving, follow all the posted signs, and have a safe, fun 4th of July weekend.
