Entertainment Companies Comment on Proposed Bill

The major controversy in the state of Georgia this week has been the possibility of the “religious liberty” bill being signed by Governor Nathan Deal. The measure would allow “faith-based” organizations to deny employment and services to people who they deem to violate their “sincerely held religious beliefs.”

Disney and Marvel might abandon Georgia if Governor Nathan Deal signs legislation that the companies fear would allow discrimination in employment.

Others in the entertainment industry have also voiced opposition to the measure, including AMC, which shoots The Walking Dead in Georgia, and Viacom.

According to The New York Times, the NFL has signaled that the measure could keep the league from playing a Super Bowl in the state.
