Drug Bust at America’s Best Value Inn

Four people face drug charges after a recent bust at America’s Best Value Inn in Clayton.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that on April 28, 2020, a deputy was dispatched to the inn on Highway 441 South to investigate an earlier shoplifting from Walmart.  The deputy spoke to four individuals and asked for permission to search their room and vehicle.  They agreed and the search produced illegal drugs in both.  As a result, 44-year-old Sandra Lynn Maddy was arrested for possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession and use of drug-related objects; 30-year-old Carolyn Elizabeth Loftis for possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession and use of drug-related objects; 48-year-old Michael William Rhinehart for possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession and use of drug-related objects; and 50-year-old Robert Larry Sawyer for possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession and use of drug-related objects.  They were booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the charges.
