Don’t sit on the Sidelines, become a Poll Worker

In preparation for the 2024 Presidential Election, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is encouraging the public to be active participants in the most important part of a presidential election, by volunteering as a poll worker on Election Day. Recognizing the critical role that poll workers play in ensuring a safe, secure, and accurate election, Secretary Raffensperger is calling on the citizens of the Peach State to actively engage in the democratic process and serve their local election offices. “We believe that our democracy works best when citizens are engaged,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “Volunteering as a poll worker highlights the principles that we hold dear. This is a great opportunity to serve your community and ensure free, fair, and secure elections.” By volunteering during Early Voting or Election Day, citizens can contribute to upholding the integrity of our elections and promote civic responsibility. Elections are complex operations, requiring thousands of man-hours by hundreds of committed servants in each of Georgia’s 159 counties. Poll Workers are essential to this process and are responsible for voter assistance and the efficient operation of polling precincts. Poll Workers are the front line of safe, secure, and accurate elections. Poll Workers often work long, challenging days. Training and support are provided by county election officials to ensure that all volunteers are prepared for their roles throughout the election process. Unlike Poll Watchers, Poll Workers are paid for their work. To become a Poll Worker, please visit the Secretary of State’s website. Secretary Raffensperger expressed gratitude to those who have served as poll workers in the past and emphasized the need for a diverse and engaged group of individuals to step forward. “Poll Workers safeguard the principles that make Georgia great. Our democracy thrives when citizens come together to build safe, secure, and accurate elections.” By volunteering as poll workers, citizens play a direct role in shaping the future of their communities and our state. Secretary Raffensperger’s call to action underscores the significance of citizen involvement in ensuring the safety, security, and accuracy of the electoral process during the 2024 Presidential Election.
