Donald Ray Olson
Donald Ray Olson, 88, of Clayton, GA, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. He was born December 11, 1927 in Chicago, IL and was the son of Phillip Arthur Olson and Ruth McLean Olson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Phillip Olson and a sister, Muril Powers. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bobbie Sue Johnson Olson; one son, Judson Ray Olson and wife, Donna of Clermont, FL; and two daughters, Brenda Sheron Mayer and her husband, Jim of Clermont, FL, Vicki Robertson and her husband, Fred of Orlando, FL. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Olson served his country in the US Army during World War II. He lived in Orlando, FL for 30 years before moving to Otto, NC in 1993 and then to Clayton, GA in 2004. He was a Procurement Officer for the USPS and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Elk Lodge and National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He played tennis, the banjo, and loved music. He was always active in the school organizations that his children participated in and he also coached his children’s sports teams. Mr. Olson was a member of Clayton First United Methodist Church.
