Dogs Called in to Find Man Who Fled From Police

A tracking dog is called into Rabun County after a man runs away from the scene of a traffic stop.

According to a report on file with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy pulled over a 2013 Mitsubishi Galant driven by 31 year old Timmy Ray Nicholson of Tiger for weaving over the roadway on Old Highway 441 near Worley Creek Road.

The report stated that when the deputy activated his emergency lights, the vehicle sped up and continued down Carlton English Road before stopping in a driveway, at which point the driver exited the car and run over the embankment.

The deputy spoke with the passenger when backup arrived, and the dogs were called in. They were unable to locate Nicholson, but he was later arrested at his mother’s house, according to the report.

He was taken to the Rabun County Detention on a $13,000 bond for the charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, obstructing or hindering law enforcement, weaving over roadway, driving while license withdrawn, and a probation violation.
