District 8 House of Representative Runoff Is Official

It is official, there will be a runoff election for district 8 state house of representative.

Kent Woerner had a strong showing in Rabun County back in May for the Primary Election, and Matt Gurtler won Union and Towns Counties. But neither candidate received over 50% of the vote, which will cause a runoff election for July. The only question, was if Joshua Littrell, who finished 17 votes behind Woerner for 2nd place, would ask for a recount. According to the Rabun County Board of Elections, Littrell will not seek a recount, which will leave the race up to Kent Woerner and Matt Gurtler for the 8th district seat.

This is a continuation of the May election. If you chose a republican ballot, you must vote on that ballot. If you were registered to vote for the May primary, but did not participate, you can still vote. If you were not registered, you will not be allowed to vote in this runoff.

The runoff election will be held July 26th, early voting begins in early July.
