Dillard Man arrested for DUI

A Dillard man stands charged with driving under the influence after a noise complaint.  On August 10, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address on River Valley Lane in Dillard in reference to a noise complaint.  Upon arrival, the deputy observed 29-year-old Benjamin Duran of Dillard passed out in the driver’s seat of a 2013 Mazda CX9 SUV holding a half-empty beer bottle with the engine still running.  The deputy could hear loud music and smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle.  The deputy yelled to wake Duran up but that was unsuccessful.  Then the deputy reached in the vehicle to turn the music off and shook Duran’s shoulder but that too didn’t work.  Finally, the deputy conducted a sternum rub and Duran woke up.  He was then arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the charge.
