Deputies make Two Drug Busts

Two drug busts were recently made by deputies of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.  The first happened on Jan. 6, on Georgia 15 at Goat Mountain Drive when a deputy stopped a Dodge Dart for speeding and smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  The deputy arrested 49-year-old Keisha Neal of Riverdale, Georgia for possession of a schedule I controlled substance, marijuana.  While performing a probable cause search of the vehicle, the deputy located four different items containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana as well as two clear plastic wrappers with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.  She was also issued citations for possession of cocaine and a verbal warning for speeding.  The second drug bust occurred on Jan. 13, on Georgia 15 at the intersection with Walmart in Clayton when a deputy stopped a Chevy Cobalt with no tag.  A search of the vehicle uncovered a clear plastic bag suspected of being methamphetamine as well as four small amounts of foil and two straws.  The deputy arrested 22-year-old Tyler Jacob Jones of Clayton for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, methamphetamine, possession and use of drug-related objects, expired tag, a seatbelt violation, and a window tint violation.  Due to COVID-19, Jones was written tickets and told to check his mail for an upcoming court date.
