Democrats and Republicans Hold Grand Openings of Local Headquarters

The Democratic and Republican Parties both held grand openings of their headquarters here in Rabun County over the weekend.

Jana Hill, the chairperson of the Democratic Party here in Rabun County, explained the role of their headquarters located on Chechero Street here in Clayton.

“It gives people a place to come and find out more about the candidates,” said Hill. “We have material here, we have the candidates stopping in, and we will have events here so that people from the general public can come and here what the candidates have to say on issues.”

Hill said the Democratic Headquarters will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as extended hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The headquarters will also be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, Carolee Williams, the chairperson of the Republican Party here in Rabun County  said she was excited to be opening up the Republican Party’s headquarters.

“What we’re going to do is make our candidates visible,” said Williams. “We want to get behind all of our republican candidates.”

Also at the grand opening of the Republican Party’s headquarters, Development Authority Executive Director Ray Coulombe spoke about the Rabun Business Park.

The Republican Headquarters will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
