Day Two of Budget Hearings Wrap Up for Clayton

The City of Clayton continued with their fiscal year 2017 budget on Tuesday, and more good news came out of it.

Speaking with City Manager for the city of Clayton, Cissy Henry, she recapped the hearings, where water and wastewater had their chance to present.

“Matthew Speed of the waste treatment plant presented his budget, with a balanced budget with very little increase. But the increase has to do with the screw press debt.” says Henry, “Moody Barrick, Public Works Director, also presented. Which also had some increase for the improvements that we are making over the next couple of years to the sewer system, and the water system.”

The water system budget will go along with the current GEFA loan, which is $2.7 million dollars. With the budget hearings wrapping up, Henry gives us details as to what the next step is.

“What we will do at this point, we will post the budget in the newspaper (The Clayton Tribune) and put it on the door of city hall, if anybody wants a copy of it. In two weeks, before the end of June, the City Council will call a special called meeting, and pass the budget for FY 2017, and set the millage rate.”

Henry says that residents who would like to see the budget, or would like to obtain a more detailed copy, can do so by visiting city hall located at 837 highway 76 west, or by calling city hall at 706-782-4512.
