Control Valve Project to augment Water Supply in Clayton

A project to provide a secondary water source for the City of Clayton is one step closer to becoming a reality.  Brendan Thompson, General Manager of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority, says they are working with the City to bring water from the North Water System.  “That’s basically our control valve project.  We’ve been working really closely with the City of Clayton.  We have laid out where we are going to put that control valve there behind the Flea Market, which is the old shirt factory.  We’ll be looking to go ahead and get that project bid out in the next couple of weeks and hopefully, get that thing online probably in the next two to three months.  I’m really excited about that, to be able to have a secondary source of water for the City of Clayton.”  Once completed, water from the Little Tennessee Water Treatment Plant would be used to augment the water supply from the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant while filters are being rehabilitated as well as provide a secondary source of water for the City of Clayton when necessary.
