Community gathers for National Night Out in Sky Valley

The community gathered Tuesday afternoon in Sky Valley for a National Night Out event.  This was an opportunity for residents to meet and learn more about local law enforcement, emergency services, and the fire department, tells Sky Valley Police Chief Vaughn Estes, who organized the inaugural event.  “I think it went really well. I was really happy with all the people that came and participated. We had agencies from all over Northeast Georgia. We’ve had our local departments, our state departments, and our Department of Natural Resources.  I just think it was a great showing and I think the people of our area got a good glimpse of some of the services that they may not have known we have today and had conversations with people that they normally would not have had a conversation with and maybe the exchange of knowledge will be beneficial to all of us.”  Chief Estes hopes to build upon this first National Night Out event in Sky Valley and that more people and organizations will participate next year.
