Clayton Woman swindled in Scam

A Clayton woman was swindled out of $500 in a scam.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that on October 6, a deputy was dispatched to an address on Old 441 South to speak with a woman about a scam.  The woman told the deputy that she started talking to a man online.  The man said that he was a doctor for the UN and was working overseas and needed $250.  A few days later, the man asked for another $250.  The woman felt that she had been scammed and wanted to report it to law enforcement.  The deputy told her to not send the man anything else and block him on all accounts.  If she had any questions in the future to contact the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office to investigate before sending any currency.
