Clayton Man arrested for DUI

On Nov. 28, a Rabun County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested 65-year-old John Joseph Cassidy Jr. of Clayton for driving under the influence, possession of an open alcohol container, and failure to maintain lane.  The deputy was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash with entrapment on Earls Ford Road.  Rabun County EMS helped Cassidy out of the vehicle and the deputy smelled alcohol coming from his breath.  He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and an inventory of the vehicle was taken.  The deputy located a bottle of Southern Comfort that was over half way empty.  The deputy obtained warrants for his arrest after he received medical treatment.
