Clayton Councilwoman honored for Tireless Learning

It’s difficult to serve others in local government.  There are meetings, constituents, and controversial issues.  In addition, council members are required to attend extra training at the state level every term.  Before their meeting Tuesday, the Clayton City Council honored one of their own for going the extra mile.  Councilwoman Michelle Duquette was recognized for completing 72-hours of training with the Georgia Municipal Association.  “I completed hours with the University of Georgia through the Georgia Municipal Association. I received a certificate of achievement for 72-hours of completed courses.  I took a lot of planning and zoning classes and those are a few of the areas that I have concentrated on while I’ve been on the City Council.” Duquette has served on the Clayton City Council for the last three and a half years.  Clayton Mayor Jordan Green presented Duquette with a framed certificate honoring her achievement and those in attendance at the Clayton City Council meeting Tuesday gave her a round of applause.
