Clayton Council celebrates Turpin’s 18 Years of Service

During Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting of the Clayton City Council, Everiest Turpin was celebrated for 18 years of service to the City, says Mayor Kurt Cannon.  “Everiest Turpin just retired after 18 years of service.  Actually, he retired on his birthday.  So we had a little celebration on Wednesday for his retirement and his birthday at the same time.  Everiest had been there 18 years and he is just one of those guys, his nickname is “Everready”, he is always ready to do whatever you ask him to do.  He was there every day, he was consistent, a phenomenal worker.  When I recognized him at our meeting on Tuesday night, I told the audience, which we had a pretty large audience, that these guys are the heroes in our community.  A lot of people think about the Fire Department or the Police Department, but those guys, if you didn’t have water or sewer or a tree is crossing a road during a storm and you can’t get out to get to the hospital, they’re taking care of it every single day and they are kind of the unsung heroes behind the scenes that are making it happen.  I really appreciate what they do and I really appreciate what Everiest did for the City for 18 years.”  Turpin worked for the City of Clayton Streets Department.
