Clayton City Council approves Paving Contract with Rabun County

More streets are set to be paved in the City of Clayton soon.  At their monthly meeting on May 16, 2023, the Clayton City Council approved a paving contract with Rabun County.  Clayton Mayor Kurt Cannon said the partnership with the county will allow more roads to be paved for less money.  “When we finalized our Service Delivery Strategy last year part of that was the ability for the county and the cities to work together in getting paving contracts so that we could get a larger number of miles and therefore getting a better price.  So, we have been working with the county to partner and get these contracts ready.  Right now, we are fixing to finalize those so we’ll start seeing paving soon.  I know a lot of people have been asking that they have been paying the extra 1 cent for the TSPLOST, so it is coming.  So, there are a lot of paving projects fixing to start in the City all over.”  The paving contract was unanimously approved by the Clayton City Council.  Once bids have been awarded, the City will publicize a paving schedule.
