Catalytic Converter stolen in Clayton

Another catalytic converter has been stolen from a car in the county.  On May 25, 2022, a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Broken Axle Road in Clayton to take a theft report.  The deputy met with the victim, who stated that he parked his 2006 Toyota at the driveway near Warwoman Road due to the driveway being too rough for him to drive up.  The vehicle was parked there for three days.  When he went to start the vehicle in order to go to work, it made a loud noise and did not have any acceleration power.  He then got out and looked underneath the car and saw that the catalytic converter had been cut off.  The value of the stolen car part is $500.  The case is being investigated by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.  This is an ongoing crime as several catalytic converters have been cut off vehicles parked in the county over the last few months.
