Career Fair and Resource Expo coming to Rabun County

WorkSource Georgia Mountains (WSGM) under the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, administers the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant and has sponsored a visit to Rabun County from Be Pro Be Proud Georgia (BPBP) in partnership with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Forward Rabun, and Georgia Mountains Works. BPBP is a mobile training tool used to generate interest in technical professions within the manufacturing, transportation, utility, construction, and healthcare industries. Through virtual simulation, attendees will experience and gain knowledge of technical careers that are engaging, challenging, and financially rewarding without the need for a four-year degree. Participants will have access to information on the types of education needed, where to find training, and how to identify local job opportunities. As part of the career fair and resource expo, WSGM and Be Pro Be Proud Georgia will be onsite at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia from 10am to 2pm on June 7, 2023. This event is open to the public and offers access to local employers, training providers, community resources, and the possibility of tuition assistance for approved programs. The WorkSource Georgia Mountains region includes the following counties: Banks, Dawson, Franklin, Forsyth, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White where manufacturing is #1 in Industrial Employment in the area with an average salary of over $55,000/year. WIOA is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and is a proud partner of the American Job Center Network.
