Car goes 75 Feet down Embankment in Clayton

A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu traveled 75 feet down an embankment in Clayton. On December 13, 2023, at 12:53pm, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area just past Warwoman Dell on Warwoman Road for a vehicle stuck in a ditch. The deputy searched the area but could not locate the car. Two hours later, the deputy was dispatched back to the area for the same vehicle and spoke to a volunteer firefighter who said the vehicle was approximately 75 feet down the embankment. First responders arrived and used ropes to rappel to the vehicle. Rabun County Search and Rescue were able to safely get the driver back up the embankment. The driver said he was traveling east on Warwoman Road when he negotiated a curve past Saddle Gap Road, left the road, and dropped down the embankment before coming to rest at a tree. He was checked by EMS and determined to be uninjured.
