C-130s Take to Rabun Sky

According to a press release from the US Forest Service, during the week of May 4, 2015, crew and pilots will prepare for the 2015 wildfire season with planned training flights over the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia. During this year’s training, zero to 15 practice flights per day may be conducted in which military C-130s will drop water on a target site approximately two miles south of Rabun Bald on the national forest. In this tristate exercise, three other target sites may be used on the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina and Sumter National Forest in South Carolina.
