Bids awarded for New Water Tank in Rabun County

Bids have been awarded for a new water tank in Rabun County.  At their recent meeting, the Rabun County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the low bidders on a project to build a 750,000-gallon ground-level storage tank off Yorkhouse Road.  Rabun County Commission Chairman Greg James said this project will be very beneficial to the county.  “That’s a wonderful project.  Brendan Thompson has done a great job for Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority.  This is going to give us a backup of 750,000 gallons and our intent is to have plenty of water.  We are working on redundancy lines and the reason we are doing that we will be able to when we get completed to have backup water and move water in any direction we want to.  So, we can pull from the north or the south and make sure we have plenty of clean water.”  CROM Corporation was awarded the bid for the tank for $1.222 million and Dale Construction was awarded the bid for the pipeline work for $109,000.  Work is scheduled to begin in late March or early April.
