August is National Immunization Month

August is national immunization awareness month and District Two Public Health is offering another round of back-to-school immunizations, explains Public Information Officer Dave Palmer.  “Every year we want to have a good emphasis on back-to-school vaccines, especially for children entering kindergarten, middle school, and high school certain vaccines are needed as you enter into those classes.  So, for Rabun County on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the week of September 14-18, we’ll have a clinic from 8am to 5pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and then on Tuesday and Thursday, the clinic will be from 10am to 7pm and this will allow extra time for parents to bring their children in to get those back-to-school vaccines.  It is very important during this time to go ahead and make sure that your child or your children are up-to-date on their vaccines because with the COVID-19 virus circulating we want everyone to be as protected as possible.  So, if we can protect against those diseases that we know through vaccination it can help us all out by being better protected in the community.”  Once again the Rabun County Health Department will hold vaccination clinics the week of September 14-18 and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the clinics will be from 8am to 5pm and on Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 7pm.  Vaccinations are by appointment only to help protect the public’s health.  Call the Rabun County Health Department at 706-212-0289 to schedule an appointment. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask when coming for your appointment.
