Arson and Stolen Weapons in Rabun County

Last week a report of Arson surfaced in the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Investigator Captain Jack Tanksley explained what happened…

“Someone had set, I believe a post on fire with a kerosene next to it, and the victim came home, found it and put the fire out before any major damage occurred.”
The investigation has led to a possible suspect…
“Well right now we are investigating this, right now I might have a person of interest I’m looking at.”
In an interesting twist to the case, arson was not the only crime involved at the residence on Connector Road in Lakemont…
“Also, we’re looking into, the same victim had a pistol stolen out of his house, but at this time we don’t know if it’s related, but we’re also looking into that, trying to find out who might have stole his pistol.”
There was no report of forced entry to the home in the case of the missing pistol, and an investigation into both crimes continues.
