Arrest Made in Damaged Road Scraper Case

One is arrested after a Rabun County road scraper is damaged by gunshots.

Twenty year old David Henry Diggs of Tiger was charged with interference with government property and criminal damage to property in the first degree after a road scraper on Wolf Creek Road in Lakemont was shot, leaving what appeared to be bullet holes in the windshield and seat.

Investigator Gerald Johnson with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office said they received an anonymous tip which implicated Diggs as the gunman.

“The investigation led to Diggs’ residence in Tiger,” said Johnson. “Sheriff’s investigators recovered a .22 caliber semi- automatic handgun from Diggs’ residence. The handgun is the one believed to have been used in the shooting.”

The investigation involved both the Sheriff’s Office and the Rabun County Marshal’s Office.
