Application Period open for FEMA Firefighter Grants

Applications for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’sFiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program are now open, and will accept applications through 5pm on March 8. The expected disbursements for the FY 2023 AFG program is $324 million, matching the $324 million distributed through 1,708 awards for the FY2022 awards, including a $952,380 grant to the City of Cleveland for vehicle acquisition, $362,857 for Banks County vehicle acquisition, and $81,196 for Demorest operations and safety. The grant monies are earmarked for enhancement of  the safety of the public and firefighters against fire-related deaths and hazards by funding protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other equipment and resources. The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations.
