Annual Lake Burton Cleanup Day occurring Friday

For any Rabunites looking for a fun way to work towards creating a better environment in the county, residents can join Lake Burton Cleanup day.

On Friday, LBCA and Georgia Power Company will be hosting their annual lake cleanup of debris accumulated over the winter and are encouraging all members of the public to volunteer if available.

Workers are requested to arrive by boat at Murray Cove boat ramp by 9 a.m. Georgia Power officials will then assign areas of the lake to each boat.

According to LBCA President Ron Majors, volunteers will finish at 12 p.m. and will be rewarded with a luncheon at the Waterfall Club.

Trash bags and “reacher tools” will be provided. In addition to bringing your own work gloves, officials recommend wearing boots or tennis shoes so that workers may avoid foot injury while wading in shoreline water to retrieve debris.

If interested, please email the number of volunteers in your group to Dorothy Hopper at: [email protected] so Waterfall Club will know how many to expect for lunch.
