Annual Clayton Christmas Parade rescheduled due to inclement weather

The 2018 Clayton Christmas parade which was originally slated for this Saturday, Dec. 1, has been canceled and rescheduled for the following Saturday, Dec. 8 according to parade chairman Carl Butler.

“We’re really sorry to announce that the Rabun County Christmas Parade has been canceled for this weekend due to the weather, looks like it will be raining Saturday and Sunday,” Butler said. “So we are rescheduling the parade for next Saturday same time, the same place. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate a little bit better with us next weekend.”

The theme for this years Christmas parade is, “Singin’ in the Holidays” according to Butler who hopes all parade participants feature a holiday song on their floats.

“We’re hoping that all of the floats will choose a Christmas carol to feature on their floats,” he said. “We also are asking any churches to bring out their choirs to sing downtown.”

Since the parade has been rescheduled for next weekend, Butler emphasized that there is still time to pick up an application to register a float in the parade. The application deadline has been pushed back a week to next Friday, Dec. 8.
